One of the things I enjoy most about what I do is working with young people and seeing what happens when they’re given the space to be creative.
Over the last couple of months, Beatsora has been running a series of music workshops across Thamesmead with our brilliant partners, Peabody and Beyond The Box CIC. Across nine sessions, we’ve had the chance to work with some incredibly talented young people, helping them explore music, learn new skills and, most importantly, build confidence.
That’s been the best part for me. Watching people grow over the course of the workshops, seeing ideas come to life and seeing confidence build week after week is exactly why I love doing this.
I wouldn’t be where I am today without people who took the time to share their knowledge and encourage me when I was starting out. Being able to do the same for the next generation feels like a full-circle moment.
For me, it’s never just been about making music. It’s about creating opportunities, opening doors and showing young people that their ideas matter. Sometimes all someone needs is the right environment and a bit of encouragement to realise what’s possible.
A massive thank you to our partners at Peabody and Beyond The Box CIC for making these workshops happen, especially Nadia Kassab and Neil Onions Hon FRIBA for believing in what we’re building.
Big shoutout as well to Glen Agyeman for capturing the journey through some great photos, and to Keanu Hesson for all your support throughout.
We’re only just getting started, and I’m looking forward to creating even more opportunities for the next generation of artists and creators.
