In December last year, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Tashomi on the Harmony & Hustle podcast for one of the most open conversations I’ve had in a while.
We covered a bit of everything—from my journey in music and what it really took to reach over a billion streams, to the lessons I’ve learned along the way. One thing I wanted to get across is that success isn’t always what it looks like from the outside. People usually only see the results, the big moments, like DJing at the Formula 1 British Grand Prix, but they don’t see the late nights, the challenges, the setbacks or all the little wins that eventually lead up to those bigger opportunities.
We also chatted about the many different ways to build a career in music, whether that’s through songwriting, sync licensing, sound design or something completely different. The industry is constantly evolving, and I think the more open you are to learning and trying new things, the more opportunities you’ll create for yourself.
The conversation didn’t stop at music either. We got into mindset, personal growth, faith and what success actually looks like once you stop measuring it by numbers or milestones. One thing I’ve realised over the years is that there’s no one-size-fits-all approach.
Everyone’s journey is different, and sometimes the opportunities that have the biggest impact are the ones you never saw coming.
If there’s one thing I’d love people to take away from the episode, it’s this: just keep going. Keep showing up, keep improving your craft and don’t be afraid to trust the journey. The moments people celebrate are usually built on years of work that happened quietly behind the scenes.
A massive thank you to Tashomi for having me on. It was such a great conversation, and I hope anyone who listens comes away with a bit of inspiration—whether you’re making music, building a business or simply figuring out your own path.
